How can I get the smell out? Removing musty smells from the closet

Empty out the Closet Completely

Set up a fan

Setting up a fan on a side table to blow air directly into the closet can increase the airflow in the closet.  Let the closet air out this way for 24 hours.

Clean the closet from top to bottom

Look for any signs of mold stain, mildew stain, or anything that may contribute to the musty smell in your closet. Vacuum it or sweep up the loose debris and then wipe down shelves, doors, and walls with warm water and ½ cup of vinegar. Dry the closet and refill the closet.
